A Venezuelan tasting experience with the Real Rum Experience

This month’s Real Rum Experience event was a little different to what we’ve had before! Combining a rum tasting with a chocolate pairing and finishing off with Venezuelan dinner to complement the rum. Hosted by Georgia the brand ambassador for Diplomático.

Things kicked things off with a welcome cocktail, which set the tone nicely before moving into the session properly with an informative overview of the origins of both sugarcane and cacao, all whilst sipping on some fantastic rums. 

The tasting featured four rums: Planas, Mantuano, Reserva Exclusiva and the 2008 Single Vintage. Each was paired with a complementary chocolate, which added an extra dimension. The combinations worked well and made for a nice change from the usual straight rum lineup.

After the tasting, we had another cocktail and tucked into some great food from El Pollote! It was full of flavour and a great match for the rums we’d just experienced. As always, the event struck a solid balance between being informative and laid-back, with good drinks, good food, and a chance to try something a bit different.
