A Voyage around the World with Real Rum Experience
Another evening back at Merchant House with Real Rum Experience, this time exploring the Transcontinental Rum Line range and this session did not disappoint.

Dean MacGregor (@deanandhisrum) was back to host this session giving a fantastic history and geography of rum through the lens of Independent Bottlers.
It was a fantastic evening full of laughs, chats with fellow rum friends, and a diverse selection rums – sprinkled with names, dates, facts and anecdotes.. ultimately leading to a pop quiz hosted by Cap’n Marcos (pictured here) where the hat and aviator was passed round to the winner of each question!
When it came to the tasting themselves we were really spoiled for choice! As always I found it really interesting to see the difference of opinion where some people favoured cane juice over molasses or younger rums vs longer ageing.
The rums themselves were a testament to a ‘voyage around the world’ – starting with the core range: Panama, French West Indies, Jamaica and Australia and then hitting the single casks with Panama, Fiji and Australia. I managed to get ‘proper’ tasting notes on 4 or 5 of the seven tastings so check back on the blog soon for my tasting notes!
This was easily one of my best rum filled evenings in a while and I can’t wait for the next one!
